Hey y’all! Welcome back to a little bit of craziness and a whole lot of random!
That pretty much sums up my entire life, so it felt right to point it out here.
Today I’m diving into another 90s trend that has recently made its resurgence into popular culture, specifically, how do we feel about shirts under sleeveless dresses?
I mean, aside from the whole it-feels-like-the-gates-of-hades-outside heat issue with wearing more layers, this is a decidedly ‘baby doll’ look from the 90s – or at least it was in the actual 90s. How do we feel about this look, y’all?
This is where my brain goes when I think of the 90s/00s baby doll tee under a dress aesthetic. Usually schoolgirl plaid, often with a ribbed tee and if you were Cher Horowitz, a beret to match.
This is a similar spin, paired with a men’s undershirt. While it looks absolutely precious on the model, I’m not convinced that a bulky, unforgiving t-shirt underneath a flimsy, unforgiving dress is the right avenue for me.
Alas, I am also bulky and at times, a little unforgiving.
SO back in the day, we called these jumpers. But the internets looked at me all crazy when I tried to find a jumper that was not a British sweater. Apparently, the correct term is camisole dress. In this case, t-shirt under cami dress. It’s a young look, yes, but it’s a cute one, so I feel like this middle aged mom can totally pull this off.
Is that wishful thinking, y’all? Am I living way too far in the past?
Have a great weekend, friends!
