Fashion Friday (2/4/22)

Y’all. It’s a HAPPY FRIDAY around these parts.

If for no other reason than I’m just glad to have made it through this week, it’s still a happy one.

I’m currently fully invested in planning EV’s holiday outfits for the next several probably-not-worthy-of-an-outfit holidays.

You know the ones. Valentine’s (which is a big deal in our familia), St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, the 100th day of school, Independence Day…

No matter the degree to which you personally celebrate each of those holidays, if you have a preschooler in your life, oh, honey, you’re celebrating, all right.

Complete with little class gift bags, oh, and don’t forget the snacks/drinks/craft supplies you signed up for.

Y’all, I love it all. I love that my girl gets to experience celebration of the everyday, right along with the holy and sacred. I may not be the most Pinterest-y mama, but me and my lopsided cupcakes? Well, we’re here for the party.

Here’s what I’m currently carting for my girl:

I absolutely adore pinafores (or pinnys, if you’re in the cool club) for my girl and I’m going to be heartbroken when she refuses to wear them anymore. This one is perfect for Valentine’s, but we’ll get a lot of wear out of it since it’s subtle.

I’m thinking this one will be her school party outfit. The white shirt is a little scary, tbh, but if all else fails, this precious little paperbag skirt is going to be in heavy rotation this spring.

I’m not a fan of shamrocks, honestly. I feel like the super-themed St. Patrick’s Day offerings are almost throw-away; no one’s going to wear a ‘luck of the Irish’ t-shirt in June, for example.

For this holiday, I usually just go with a rainbow motif, because we’ll wear rainbows until kingdom come. It’s kind of EV’s thing, being my happy little rainbow baby and all.

I love both of these options so much, I couldn’t choose just one. So I’m afflicting y’all with the same quandary, if you will.

I’m kind of on the fence about buying a whole outfit for the 100th day of school, but I know it’s a big deal for kids, at least until they become sullen preteens who abhor the idea of celebrating anything but angst. This one is reasonably priced and super cute!

Y’all know the drill, right? We’re in the market for re-wearable holiday dresses, not throw away fashion. I feel like this fits the bill – totally summer appropriate, works for all of the patriotic holidays, and doesn’t say ‘this is my Old Navy 4th of July t-shirt’ on the front, so, winning.

I love this option for school and play because my girl’s less likely to show the world her shorties when she’s practicing cartwheels, if you know what I mean.

That’s it for our holiday roundup! Have a wonderful weekend, friends. You’ve totally earned it.
