Just breathe it in, won’t you?
Ahhhhhh. That’s the smell of fresh autumn breezes, right?
It’s marginally – MARGINALLY – cooler these days around here, which obviously means that I’m fully engaged in the colors of pumpkin spice… And boots. Because even though they make my legs sweaty, I don’t care because AIR CONDITIONING.
I’m nothing if not committed.
Anyway, back to those boots. And the outfits we wear them with. I’m usually a skinny jeans, oversized sweater, and knee boots kind of gal, but I’m leaning towards skirts and boots lately.
Like, classy, elegant retro glam. Not Julia Roberts in Pretty Women.
I’ve already sung the praises of a good pleated midi skirt, so you know this look is right up my alley, right? Normally with a midi skirt I like to balance the bulk of my leg by going with a strappy shoe. But I’m loving this, no matter how chunky my calves look.
Also, who cares because it’s autumn and chunk is IN, honey.
Have I mentioned lately how much I love a good Chelsea boot? I mean – super flattering, super comfortable, goes with SO MANY OUTFITS.
I can’t get enough of this casual-but-still-bad-as-a-mother outfit. Who doesn’t love a little juxtaposition? Elegant pencil silhouette, casual chic boots. DONE and done.
Ok. So this look is definitely a little farther outside of my comfort zone.
Not that it isn’t absolutely precious on the model. She’s rocking the look for herself.
It’s just that I’ve spent a lot of time, you know, MINIMIZING my layers, so this look might not be for me.
But that’s not gonna stop me from loving it. It’s going to float around in my head until I figure out a way to make it work for my shape and wardrobe. Just watch.
I’m, like, SO SHOCKED.
Can it be? It’s…. a pleated skirt.
Anyway, this is a look that is a regular go-to for me. Pretty much all of the ‘cooler’ months, actually, I’m going to be wearing a variation of this to work or to church.
Because pleats and leopard and maybe a little leather?
I can’t get enough of this vintage wool skirt with the 70s cognac boots, y’all. I have no idea why it’s drawing me in, but I LOVE it.
I would also HATE it on my body, because wool and I aren’t what you’d call friends.
But still. I want it ALL.
So what do you say? Are you a boots-and-skirts kind of gal?
Happy Friday, friends!
