I don’t claim to know a lot about fashion for people over the age of 2. Ask me about toddler bows and pinafores and I GOT YOU, BOO. But please don’t ask me what grown ups are wearing these days, because I have no idea.
Like every Pinterest enthusiast EVER, I do more than my fair share of surfing around the internets looking at outfits I might want to wear. But as someone who spends most of her budget on her kid, or Chick-fil-A for aforementioned child because she’s going through a picky phase…. I’m not all about dropping dollars.
So I hit up the Sam’s Club for my summer wardrobe. Y’all, for hardworking basic staples, the Sam’s Club is the place to be! Ignore the flowered swimsuit cover-ups and sedate office wear. Stroll on past those stretchy capris printed with tropical birds. Dig past the patriotic tees, and you might find some decent things! Here’s some of the things I’m wearing this summer:
Y’all. This shirt is a workhorse. It comes in 4 colors and is a modal/poly blend with some stretch. It’s longer in the back with the cutest little placket detail. And it’s LESS THAN SEVEN DOLL HAIRS. I bought duplicates and have been wearing them french tucked into shorts and cuffed jeggings. Believe me when I tell you that I’ve been singing the praises of this shirt all summer long. If you’ve seen me in person, I’ve probably already told you about my GIRL ONLY $7, OMG shirts.
Speaking of shorts, these suckers right here are, like, mom shorts of the year. At my store, these shorts also come in a 5″ inseam, which is my personal preference, and in sizes 4-16. Sizing is generous and there’s tons of stretch. And best of all? $12.81. I got them in 3 colors. NO RAGRETS.
Ok. Hold your horses. I see you side eyeing me over there. I know, I know. Your mom or grandma might also find this little ditty appealing, but HEAR ME OUT. This is an easy, packable (spandex/rayon), covers-all-the-mom-bases dress. I pair this with flat sandals, a Panama hat, and an oversized black cardigan, but I’d throw on a denim jacket and wedges and rock it, too.
Are you still with me? I know, I’m teetering on the edge of uncool. BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE! These flowy, comfy pants look super cute with a chambray shirt, French tucked, darling. Flat leather sandals and a Panama hat and I’m chasing my 2-year-old looking like a put-together mom. In my head, anyway. In real life I’m sweating and huffing and puffing and completely ungraceful, but I’m doing it in $13 pants, y’all.
It’s the little things.
